INSTITUTE, W.Va. – Dr. Bryle Henderson Hatch has been named Vice President and Chief of Staff for West Virginia State University (WVSU), effective Oct. 12, 2020.
In this role, Hatch will serve as an advisor to the president, provide direction and support for the University’s senior leadership team, be responsible for overall management for the President’s Office staff, and will serve as liaison to the WVSU Board of Governors and internal and external constituents, among other duties.
Hatch most recently served as executive director for community engagement for North Carolina A&T State University, where he established and unified the university’s engagement efforts with a broad range of communities, including community leaders, organizations and businesses interested in partnering with the university.
In that role, Hatch established a recruitment and long-term partnership with Amazon, Netflix and Fox Entertainment to increase diversity recruitment, student engagement and brand awareness in the university community.
“Dr. Hatch’s experience in building relationships and strategic initiatives will be invaluable to West Virginia State University, as we look to expand our partnerships not only statewide and regionally, but nationally and globally,” said WVSU President Dr. Nicole Pride.
Prior to joining North Carolina A&T, Hatch served as the diversity manager for the Duke University School of Medicine where he collaborated with academic and administrative offices across campus to elevate inclusion and community building, and implemented best practices related to diversity.
Hatch has also served as the statewide diversity and inclusion coordinator for the North Carolina Office of State Human Resources, and as the director of workforce development and continuing education for Randolph Community College in Asheboro, North Carolina. He also worked as a capital city fellow for the government of the District of Columbia.
He is active in the community, serving on the Board of Directors of the YWCA of Greensboro and on the executive committee of the Future Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro.
Hatch earned his bachelor’s degree in speech communication, a master’s degree in adult education, and a doctorate degree in leadership studies, all from North Carolina A&T.
