Leadership and Current Impact
- Cybersecurity Innovation Center: Directs WVSU’s CIC, which integrates hands-on cybersecurity education, applied research, critical-infrastructure training, community engagement, and student innovation.
- Google Cybersecurity Clinic: Principal Investigator for the $1 million Google.org-supported clinic. The clinic opened in March 2025 as the first cybersecurity clinic of its type in West Virginia and provides no-cost cybersecurity support while giving students applied experience.
- B.S. in Cybersecurity: Led development of WVSU’s four-year cybersecurity degree, approved in August 2025, including General Cybersecurity and Agricultural Cybersecurity options.
- WVSU’s First Hackathon: Helped lead the MS-CC Environmental Sciences Hackathon hosted at WVSU on April 3-4, 2026, where students addressed cybersecurity, AI, data-integrity, and environmental sensor-network challenges.
- YellowH@ckets: Supports the CIC student competition team through hackathons, capture-the-flag activities, robotics, and applied technical challenges.
- Research and Student Development: Leads faculty-guided student research in cybersecurity, AI, IoT, and critical infrastructure; the CIC reported crossing 30+ research publications in 2026.
- CyberAI and Robotics: Expanding CIC activities toward CyberAI and robotics research and hands-on student development.

Google Cybersecurity Clinic
The WVSU Cybersecurity Clinic opened in March 2025 as the first clinic of its type in West Virginia.
Agricultural Cybersecurity Option
WVSU is the only university in West Virginia offering an Agricultural Cybersecurity option within its B.S. in Cybersecurity.
University-Hosted Hackathon
WVSU hosted its first hackathon, the MS-CC Environmental Sciences Hackathon, on April 3-4, 2026.
IBM Cybersecurity Leadership Center
WVSU was one of 20 schools selected to create Cybersecurity Leadership Centers through its IBM collaboration.
Connected Hands-On Cybersecurity Ecosystem
The CIC brings together CyberHive, KITE, Robotics, CyberCity, HoneyNet, research, academic programs, and the Google Cybersecurity Clinic as a connected environment for education, research, workforce development, and community service.
