INSTITUTE, W.Va.— West Virginia State University (WVSU) Extension Service will launch the Future Ready Youth Series, a free workforce and career readiness initiative designed for middle school students. The series will open with Career Discovery Camp, scheduled for August 5 and August 8, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on WVSU’s Institute campus. 

The Future Ready Youth Series empowers students to explore career pathways, entrepreneurship, technology, financial literacy and essential life skills through engaging, hands-on experiences. The initiative aims to prepare students for life after high school, whether that means entering the workforce, pursuing higher education or starting their own business.

During this event, students will complete interactive career-interest activities and receive guidance in identifying careers aligned with their strengths and interests. Participants will also explore college, certification, apprenticeship, entrepreneurship and direct-to-work opportunities. 

The camp will also offer networking sessions with professionals from diverse career fields, as well as insights into how technology and artificial intelligence are shaping the modern workplace. Students will develop a personalized career action plan and receive information about future events in the Future Ready Youth Series.

Career Discovery Camp is open to middle school students at no cost, but registration is required by August 1, 2026.
