INSTITUTE, W.Va. – Poca Valley has entered into a multi-year partnership agreement with West Virginia State University (WVSU) in support of its athletics programs.
The announcement came today before the start of WVSU’s spring football game. In recognition of the new partnership, the athletic complex at the university’s football field will be known as the Poca Valley Athletic Complex for the next three years.
“Poca Valley is a tremendous partner with our university and we are thankful for this significant investment that will help strengthen our athletic department and improve our student-athletes experience,” said WVSU President Ericke S. Cage. “This will help us continue to provide opportunities for our student-athletes to excel academically and athletically.”
The partnership agreement will provide funding for student-athlete development and program enhancements, helping to ensure that WVSU remains competitive while fostering academic and athletic excellence.
“West Virginia State University is a cornerstone of our region,” said Kevin Jennings, vice president of human resources and marketing at Poca Valley. “We’re proud to support the institution and its athletic program, and we look forward to this wonderful partnership. Supporting our communities is central to our culture. We’re committed to supporting these student athletes and continued excellence at West Virginia State.”
The agreement with Poca Valley is part of the State of Tomorrow Capital Campaign, which seeks to raise $25 million to elevate student experiences, strengthen academic programs, expand campus resources, and sustain WVSU’s legacy as a vital partner in West Virginia’s growth.
“Poca Valley has a long history of supporting education and community initiatives across the region, and this agreement reflects its dedication to making a lasting difference in the lives of students,” said Trey Jones, WVSU’s Vice President for University Advancement. “Support like this helps us move our vision forward by strengthening programs and creating new opportunities for our students and the broader community.”
