West Virginia State University offers a paid internship program for students focusing on career exploration, skill development, and work experience to improve job prospects.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a continuing degree-seeking student.
- Meet academic progress standards.
- Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours during the internship term (except summer).
- Must be enrolled in spring to qualify for summer.
- Complete 24 credit hours with a minimum “C” in English 101.
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.50.
Academic Credit Options
Option 1 – For academic credit:
- 150 hours = 3 credit hours
- 100 hours = 2 credit hours
*Additional credit hours will be determined by the Academic Department
Option 2 – Not for academic credit:
- Minimum 50 hours at the site.
Pay rate
Starts at $15.00 per hour, determined by Career Services and the internship site.
Steps to Apply
- Complete an Internship Interest Form.
- Activate your Handshake account and complete your profile.
- Submit a resume, recommendation letter, and unofficial transcripts.
- Write an essay on your educational goals and internship benefits.
- Career Services will review applications and conduct interviews.
