INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State University’s (WVSU) College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics students will be presenting their research projects to the public during the college’s 27 annual Research Symposium Friday, April 29, 2022.
The event begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Cabbell Auditorium in Hamblin Hall with a welcome and introductions. A keynote address follows at 9:15 a.m. by WVSU alumna Dr. Sherine Obare, dean of the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. A question and answer session will follow the keynote address.
At 10:30 a.m. research presentations by NASA West Virginia Space Grant Scholars and WVSU students Peri Martin and Nick Freeman takes place. Poster sessions from WVSU Research Rookies and the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) students lasts from 11 a.m. to noon on the first-floor west corridor of the building.
After a lunch break, the College Advisory Board will meet from 1:30 to 3 p.m. An induction ceremony for the Beta Kappa Chi Scientific Honor Society and recognition of graduating seniors from the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics takes place from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in room 107.
The annual Research Symposium is sponsored by the American Electric Power Foundation, the NASA West Virginia Space Grant Consortium, AT&T, and the U.S. Department of Education and Title III.
