Contact: Jack Bailey (304) 766-4109 jbaile19@wvstateu.edu INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State University (WVSU) Extension Service will host a free hands-on training on beginning tree pruning techniques Friday, May 21, on the WVSU campus in Institute, as part of a hybrid workshop that includes a virtual presentation covering basic biology concepts relating to pruning cuts and methods. The workshop will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
“This introductory course in tree pruning is appropriate for all skill levels, from the homeowner to the city worker to the expert gardener,” said WVSU Extension Agent Liz Moss. “We will cover tree biology and structure related to pruning, why we make the cuts we do, and the techniques and tools to use for proper cutting.”
The workshop is limited to 10 participants. Registration is available online at , along with a Tree Pruning for Beginners pre-recorded video that participants should watch ahead of the hands-on training.
Proper social distancing measures will be followed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and face coverings are required.
