Contact: Jack Bailey (304) 766-4109 jbaile19@wvstateu.edu INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State University (WVSU) Extension Service’s monthly Ag Talk Tuesday series continues Tuesday, November 10, at 6 p.m. EST with a discussion about fall and winter pasture management. WVSU Extension Service personnel will share information and answer questions with participants live via Zoom.
“Whether you want to improve your pastures or simply maintain them so that they stay lush and green for years to come, there are many steps to take,” said WVSU Extension Agent Inetta Fluharty, who will lead the session. “Winter is a great time to think about your pasture management and come up with a plan for what to accomplish in the coming year.”
Fluharty will discuss what to do with pastures this winter to jumpstart the spring grazing season.
“Winter feeding can cause severe pasture degradation,” she said. “Taking action to prevent as much damage as possible can help reduce erosion and encourage forage regrowth in the spring.
The free series began in July and takes place the second Tuesday of each month. Participants register to join the live event and can submit questions ahead of time through the and platforms or via email.
A discussion of WVSU Extension Service’s climate study will be the topic of the December session.
