The first session will take place Saturday, Feb. 9, at Valley Park in Hurricane. The second session will take place Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the WVSU Economic Development Center (EDC) in Charleston. The two-hour sessions begin at 9 a.m.
The sessions are a collaborative venture between WVSU Extension Service and the West Virginia Department of Agriculture (WVDA). Bruce Murphy, agricultural special projects coordinator with WVDA, will lead the workshop.
“Bruce will demonstrate the importance of pruning to care for your trees or to rehabilitate old orchards,” said WVSU Extension Agent Kristie Martin.
Designed for all experience levels, the workshop will include hands-on participation. The Charleston workshop will begin at the WVSU EDC before moving to the nearby Rebecca Street Urban Farm for the hands-on portion.
Registration is required by contacting Martin at (804) 482-0178 or kristie.martin@wvstateu.edu or visiting wvstateu.edu/extension.
Valley Park is located along WV-34 in Hurricane. The WVSU EDC is located at 1506 Kanawha Blvd. West in Charleston.
