Contact: Kimberly Osborne (304) 766-3363 kosborne@wvstateu.edu INSTITUTE, W.Va. – Three West Virginia State University (WVSU) Extension Service marketing projects have won awards from the Association for Communication Excellence (ACE) in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Life and Human Sciences.
ACE is the national association for communications professionals working within the Cooperative Extension System. One Gold Award and two Bronze Awards were presented to WVSU Extension Service projects promoting the organization’s agriculture, families and health initiatives.
A print advertisement entitled “A Better Us,” showcasing WVSU Extension Service’s Resilient Youth and Families division, won a Gold Award in the print advertisement category, receiving a perfect score.
The poster for the 2016 West Virginia Urban Agriculture Conference, featuring the event’s popular mascot, Chicken Stu, received a Bronze Award in the poster category. The logo for the Healthy Grandfamilies program, which provides free resources and social work services to grandparents raising their grandchildren, received a Bronze Award in the logo category.
“We are thrilled that our communications team is being acknowledged at the national level for their work,” said Dr. Ami Smith, associate vice president and director of WVSU Extension Service. “To have three of our projects recognized by ACE is a testament to the quality marketing and communications work being produced here at State.”
The awards, part of ACE’s annual Critique and Awards program, were presented at the 2017 ACE Conference in New Orleans, La., Thursday, June 15.
