INSTITUTE, W.Va. – The annual West Virginia State University (WVSU) and West Virginia State University Foundation (WVSU Foundation) Black and Gold Gala will take place, Friday, April 7, at The Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences of West Virginia in Charleston.
The black tie event recognizes the generosity of donors while raising funds to further support student scholarships and educational programs at the University.
In addition to recognizing those who support the University, this year’s Black and Gold Gala will honor three business and community leaders: Diane Strong-Treister, president of Manpower; Gregory A. Burton, CEO of BrickStreet Insurance; and R. Charles Byers, Ph.D., provost and vice president emeritus for WVSU.
“The Black and Gold Gala is a special night when the Yellow Jacket Nation takes time to say thank you to the many supporters of the University who make it possible for us to continue to deliver a world class, affordable education for our students,” said WVSU President Anthony L. Jenkins. “This year we are particularly proud to honor Diane Strong-Treister, Gregory Burton and Dr. R. Charles Byers for all they have done to not only support the University, but to make the Kanawha Valley a better place for all of us.”
The evening will begin at 6:15 p.m. with a reception and silent auction, followed by the program recognizing the honorees at 7:30 p.m. After the program and dinner, the Gala will continue with an evening of dancing to live music provided by Santa Cruz. Silent auction items for bid include fine dining, a two-night stay in New York City as well as a Hawaiian vacation and more.
Individual tickets for the Black and Gold Gala are on sale now at a cost of $150.
