INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State University (WVSU) Extension Service invites you to “fall” into gardening with an Autumn Ag workshop series, taking place at community garden sites throughout Charleston during the month of October.
The series will begin with a session on raised bed and container garden production at the Agsten Manor Community Garden on Friday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m. All sessions in the series are free and open to the public.
“People often think of fall as a time to close up their gardens for the colder months ahead, but there are plenty of ways to keep your green spaces beautiful well into the holiday season,” said WVSU Extension Agent Randy Ross.
In addition to providing education on various fall-themed topics, the series is also designed to highlight some of Charleston’s thriving community garden spaces.
“We want to showcase these beautiful spaces and illustrate ways to put the ‘community’ in community gardens,” Ross said. “In addition to providing fresh fruits and vegetables, these sites are also prime gathering spaces to interact with and get to know your neighbors.”
The full workshop series is as follows: Registration is required by contacting Ross at (808) 208-5099 or .
Funding for the workshop series is provided by the USDA’s Office of Advocacy and Outreach Socially Disadvantaged Farmer and Rancher (2501) Program.
