The free, daytime camp is for students in grades 6 through 11.
“Tech Wizards focuses on the ‘maker’ movement, allowing participants to create their own digital content through video, photography and other media,” said 4-H Tech Wizards Program Coordinator Gary Hampton. “We are teaching kids about technology using real-world applications for real-world solutions.”
The goal of the camp is to help youth redesign their communities through communications, video production, digital photography, career exploration, entrepreneurship and civic engagement.
Beginning this fall, Hampton will continue the youth maker movement by working with students in an after-school setting at Mary C. Snow West Side Elementary.
The 4-H Tech Wizards camp is funded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention through the National 4-H Council. Registration is required, and Hampton is also seeking volunteer mentors for the program. For more information and registration, visit .
The WVSU EDC is located at 1506 Kanawha Blvd. W. in Charleston.
