Department stores, supply stores, restaurants, banks and more will be on display at the networking event for area residents and business leaders.
“The expo is a fantastic way to learn about the diverse range of businesses and non-profit organizations on the West Side,” said Stephanie Johnson, WVSU extension agent and executive director of WSMS, a community revitalization affiliate program of WVSU Extension Service and the City of Charleston. “We’ve had around 20 businesses attend in previous years and expect an even larger turnout this year.”
The event is the latest example of WVSU Extension Service’s ongoing mission to bolster community and economic development on Charleston’s West Side.
“The expo is another opportunity to bring together the people and resources that make the West Side great,” said Dr. Ami Smith, associate dean of WVSU Extension Service and a WSMS board member. “The work that Stephanie and the volunteers are doing is tremendous and an asset to WVSU’s portfolio of community-based initiatives.” The University also operates the Economic Development Center (EDC) on the West Side, a small business incubator, production studio and co-working facility for the creative economy.
The expo costs $5 to attend and includes food and beverages catered by Best of Crete. Booths are available for businesses to exhibit at a cost of $50. Contact Stephanie Johnson at (304) 941-4479 or director@westsidemainstreet.org.
Royal Automotive is located at 1901 Patrick St. in Charleston.
