INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State University (WVSU) will give back to Kanawha Valley residents on Saturday, April 26, during the University’s annual Cares Day.
The day-long event will bring together WVSU students, faculty, staff and alumni who will fan out across Kanawha and Putnam counties to perform volunteer work on a variety of projects in support of area residents.
“Last year we introduced Cares Day to the Kanawha Valley as a way to say thank you for the community’s support of West Virginia State University,” said President Brian O. Hemphill. “WVSU is dedicated to teaching, research and service. Cares Day is one example of our commitment to improving the surrounding community by lending many hands to needed projects in towns and cities across the two county region.”
Volunteers are still being sought to participate in Cares Day. All current and former Yellow Jackets are welcome to lend a hand.
A registration form for volunteers is available online at . Registration is required and the deadline to register to be a volunteer is April 11. Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt and be treated to a picnic meal and entertainment on campus at the end of the day.
