West Virginia State University (WVSU) has received its eighth consecutive designation
as
a Tree Campus from the National Arbor Day Foundation for its commitment to effective urban
forest management.

West Virginia State University offices will operate on a summer hours schedule of 8
a.m.
to 4 p.m. beginning Monday, April 26, and continuing through Friday, July 30.

West Virginia State University will hold spring 2021 commencement exercises in-person
on
Saturday, April 24, in the D. Stephen and Diane H. Walker Convocation Center.

Get registered for summer and fall courses this Thursday, April 15, at the Wilson
University Union, room 134, during Registration Celebration. There will be two registration
sessions from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

West Virginia State University students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to wear
jeans
with a purpose on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, to support survivors, raise awareness, educate
ourselves about rape and sexual assault, and show our solidarity for all those who are
survivors
of rape, assault or harassment of any kind.

WVSU Extension Service’s monthly Ag Talk Tuesday series continues Tuesday,

$480,000 on Wednesday, March 17, during its Day of Giving Challenge, the single largest one

fundraising total ever in the university’s history.

When Dr. Ami Smith, Director of Extension at WVSU, first set foot on the campus in
1998,
she was a single mother with a full-time retail job and a goal of obtaining an undergraduate
degree. Two decades later, her path as a Yellow Jacket has led her from the classroom to the

of STEM (CASTEM) shifted face-to-face youth science outreach efforts to the virtual arena in
the
wake of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, rolling out multiple virtual STEM programs that
targeted
middle and high school students from rural and underserved regions of the state.
