West Virginia State University (WVSU) Extension Service will host the National Summer
Transportation Institute (NSTI) for incoming sixth through eighth graders June 17-28 on the
University’s Institute campus.

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – The 2019 West Virginia State University (WVSU) television commercial, produced by the Barnes Agency, has been recognized by the 40 Annual Telly Awards, the premier awards program honoring video and television.

WVSU Extension Service will host a free half-day 4-H camp this summer for pre-school
youths ages 3-5 called Little Growers: Frontiers. Sessions will take place monthly throughout
the summer on the University’s Institute campus, focusing on environmental education
and activities.

WVSU Center for the Advancement of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
(CASTEM) will hold a Rocket Girls day camp on the University’s Institute campus July
29 through August 2.

West Virginia State University offices are operating on a Summer Hours schedule of 8
a.m.
to 4 p.m. beginning on Monday, May 13, 2019, and continuing through Friday, August 9, 2019.

A West Virginia State University (WVSU) extension agent has been named president of a
national community and economic development organization, marking not only the first such
appointment for the University but also the first time the position has been held by a
representative from one of the nation’s 1890 Land-Grant Universities.

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State University concluded their historic
season with a 11-5 loss to West Chester in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region 2 championship
game Saturday afternoon at Lady Jacket Field. The Yellow Jackets (35-16) hosted the NCAA
Regional for the first time in program history and won the most regular season conference wins
(24) for the first time in program history. WVSU also were the Mountain East Conference South
Division regular season champions.

West Virginia State University (WVSU) will host the Kanawha Valley Section of the
American Chemical Society (ACS) Awards Banquet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, in the
James
C. Wilson Student Union on the University’s Institute campus.

More than 270 students will graduate from West Virginia State University on Saturday, May 11, 2019, during a commencement ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. in the D. Stephen and Diane H. Walker Convocation Center. The ceremony will be live streamed starting at 10 a.m. here: .

wreath
laying ceremony on Friday, May 10, at 11 a.m. in honor of U.S. District Court Judge and WVSU
alumnus Damon J. Keith who passed away Sunday, April 28, in Detroit, Michigan.

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State will serve as the host for three other
teams as part of the NCAA Division II Softball Atlantic Region Tournament this weekend (May
9-11).

Due to the large amount of vehicular traffic that will be present on campus Saturday,
May
11, 2019, the West Virginia State University Department of Public Safety is urging all drivers
to be aware of possible traffic flow changes, and obey all traffic control signs.
