Quilt Exhibit at WVSU Depicts Slaves’ Journey Along Underground Railroad
INSTITUTE, W.Va. — Nineteenth-century slaves seeking freedom along the Underground
Railroad did not have the aid of text messaging, e-mail or even letters for communication.

freedom.
One such method – coded messages sewn into quilts – is on display at West
Virginia State University through Oct. 6.
