West Virginia State University (WVSU) has been awarded nearly $2 million in grants from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) as part ofa major investment of more than $33 million to support capacity building efforts at the country’s 1890 Land-grant Universities.

Following the decision on Monday by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission to revoke Alderson Broaddus University’s authority to award degrees, West Virginia State University (WVSU) stands ready to serve all Alderson Broaddus students, faculty and staff at this difficult time.

The West Virginia State University (WVSU) Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Program has been awarded a $50,050 Extension Collaborative on Immunization Teaching and Engagement (EXCITE)grant as a subaward in collaboration with West Virginia University (WVU), which will help the Cooperative Extension System to continue its mission to increase vaccine confidence among rural and other underserved communities.

A special celebration will take place this Thursday, July 13, at 1:30 p.m. at the historic Hale House in Malden where West Virginia State University (WVSU) students have been working for the past several weeks as part of an archeology field school.

The USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture has awarded $4.5 million to the West Virginia Agriculture Professionals’ Next Generation project, project which aims to foster the next generation of diverse food and agriculture professionals. The project will be led by Dr. John Kessell, Agricultural and Natural Resources (ANR) program leader at WVSU.

An archeological field school will be offering students at West Virginia State University (WVSU) the opportunity to uncover more of the history surrounding the Hale House and the early salt industry at Malden.

The Bachelor of Science in nursing program at West Virginia State University (WVSU) has received accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), a national accreditation agency for nursing programs.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The inaugural class of the new West Virginia State University (WVSU) Certified Public Manager® Program met for the first time today at the state capitol building.

Beginning Monday, May 15, 2023, through Friday, August 11, 2023, West Virginia State University offices will observe a summer hours schedule of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A pinning ceremony recognizing the first graduates of the West Virginia State University (WVSU) nursing program will take place Friday, May 12, beginning at 6 p.m. in the James C. Wilson University Union on campus.

More than 200 students will graduate from West Virginia State University (WVSU) on Saturday, May 13, during a commencement ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. in the D. Stephen and Diane H. Walker Convocation Center.

West Virginia State University is one of four state institutions of higher education that have been awarded a highly competitive, five-year $20 million grant from the National Science Foundation’s Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research. WVSU Professor Dr. Umesh Reddy will serve as co-principal investigator on the project.

West Virginia State University offices will be closed on Friday, May 26. Campus offices will also be closed on Monday, May 29, for the Memorial Day Holiday. The university will resume normal operations on Tuesday, May 30.

West Virginia State University’s (WVSU) Counseling and Wellness Services and Department of Health and Human Performance is sponsoring a Health Expo and Out of the Darkness Walk Suicide Prevention Walk on Thursday, April 27.
