Dr. Frehot Hailou

Chair Department of Economics, Finance, & Marketing / Professor

Dr. Hailou is Professor of Economics and the Chair of the Economics, Finance & Marketing Department at the College of Business & Social Sciences at West Virginia State University.  Prior to joining WVSU, he was lecturer in French language and literature at Howard University (2001-2008) and has taught economics at Montgomery College in Tacoma Park, MD (2007-2009).   In addition to teaching, he also serves as Coordinator for the Economics Program.

He obtained his BA & MA (Economics) from York University and his Ph.D. (Economics) from Howard University.  Dr. Hailou is also a linguist who holds an MA degree in French Linguistics and Literature from Howard University.

Dr. Hailou is Director of the Center for Economic Research and Entrepreneurship at WVSU as well Economics Program Coordinator at the College of Business and Economics. In the past, he has served in various capacity including Assessment Coordinator and Co-writer of the Self-Study for academic accreditation of the College of Business and Economics.

He has received research grants from The Thurgood Marshall Center for Advancing Opportunities as well the PEER grant and his work has been covered by the Washington Times, The Associated Press and The Charleston Gazette-Mail.
