Dr. Charles Perdue

Chair of Psychology & Sociology/ Professor

Dr. Perdue is a Professor of Psychology in the College of Business & Social Sciences at West Virginia State University; he currently serves as the Chair of the Psychology & Sociology Departments and the Program Coordinator for Psychology. Before coming to WVSU, he was a postdoctoral National Institute of Mental Health research trainee at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, as well as a Visiting Professor and Instructor at the University of Wisconsin. He obtained his MA and Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Princeton University.

Dr. Perdue has been a Research Scholar at the Institute for Social Research (ISR) at the University of Michigan; he has received three grants from the U.S. Bureau of Mines to study hazard recognition and risk-taking behavior in underground miners. For many years Dr. Perdue has studied prejudice and stereotyping; his research in these areas has been published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, the American Psychological Association’s Encyclopedia of Psychology, and the Encyclopedia of Adulthood and Aging.
