WVSU and Kanawha County Public Library host tree care workshops

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State University (WVSU) Extension Service is teaming with the Kanawha County Public Library for a series of free workshops on tree care and maintenance at various library branches throughout October.

Participants will learn techniques such as mulching, fertilizing and pruning to ensure trees are healthy and aesthetically pleasing in the landscape.

“Trees are a beautiful addition to our home landscapes, especially when cared for properly,” said Brad Cochran, WVSU extension agent. “By learning the proper methods of maintenance and pruning, trees will remain healthy and beautiful for years to come.”

The workshops are part of Kanawha County Public Library’s monthly education classes. The full schedule is as follows:
  • Oct. 2 – Main Library, noon to 1 p.m.
  • Oct. 8 – Riverside Public Library, noon to 2 p.m.
  • Oct. 10 – Clendenin Branch Library, 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Oct. 11 – Cross Lanes Branch Library, 11 a.m. to noon
