Mushroom production the focus of WVSU workshop
 
INSTITUTE, W.Va. – Growing shiitake mushrooms is the focus of a West Virginia State University (WVSU) Extension Service workshop at the Rock Lake Community Life Center in South Charleston Thursday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to noon.

“Mushroom production is becoming more and more popular as people see the health benefits of mushrooms, as well as the variety of mushrooms that can be produced,” said WVSU Extension Agent Brad Cochran. “Shiitake is a well-known and delicious variety that is easy to grow in your own backyard.”

During the hands-on workshop, participants will see the processes involved in mushroom production and receive the materials needed to begin growing their own at home.
