Free Performance of America Amerique

1/20/2010

West Virginia State University will present the National Tour of AMERICA AMERIQUE, a documentary play about American Immigrants for one performance at the Davis Fine Arts Theatre on January 27th at 8:00 P.M.

The dramatic scenes and portraits of AMERICA AMERIQUE are based on real voices, eyewitness accounts of striking events and people. From Irish potato fields to Midwestern farms and New York tenements, from New England factories and the railroad across the Rockies, to the Mexican border 2008, AMERICA AMERIQUE provides an entertaining and instructive look at the evolving American personality.

The National Tour of AMERICA AMERIQUE is presented by The JENA  Company of New York, producers of new work by acclaimed theatre artists.  Following its dynamic Civil Rights series, the national tours of  MY SOUL IS A WITNESS and JACKIE, VI & LENA with AMERICA AMERIQUE,  JENA continues to bring American stories to life on stage.

The research and historical framework for the play have been developed and guided by historian, Thomas Jessen Adams, Ph.D.

AMERICA AMERIQUE
is directed by Alex Levy.  The winner of five Joseph Jefferson Awards for Excellence in Theatre, Mr. Levy served as Artistic Director for the renowned Chicago stage company, Pegasus Players, for the past five seasons. Performed by a company of seven New York actors, AMERICA AMERIQUE will be seen in engagements in 20 cites nationwide from January to March 2010.

This event is highly recommended for theatre lovers, history buffs and students
