The Department of Communications for Research and Public Service provides media relations, news writing, graphic design and marketing expertise to help Extension educators and agricultural researchers in our shared mission of making West Virginia a better place. Think of us as a full-service boutique agency here to help WVSU Extension Service, AERS and CASTEM staff meet the needs of today's West Virginian.
 
Here are some of the things we can do for you.
 
  • Media Relations - We have established relationships with media outlets all over the state and can help get your story in front of journalists. We write and distribute news releases and work with reporters to ensure optimum coverage of your programs. News releases are handled on a request basis via email.
  • Written Communications - Need a brochure for your program or project? A feature story or impact report? Contact us for expert content management and storytelling guidance.
  • Advertising - We design ads on a request basis for print, digital, outdoor, radio and television outlets.
  • Graphic Design - From posters to brochures, billboards to print ads, program logos to promotional items, all design projects are handled through our online submission process and completed promptly and efficiently.
  • Web Development - General management of the organizational website is our responsibility, with program staff given training and access to their respective areas as needed.
  • Social Media Management - Interested in helping us spread the word about your work through Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms? We provide training and access to staff using the latest marketing tactics.
  • Photography - We provide coverage of events for photo documentation on a request basis, pending availability of the University Relations Director of Photographic Services and access to equipment.
  • Videography - We provide basic video production and editing services.
  • TeleconferencingWe also provide fee-based telephone conferencing services available to our clients 24/7, with telephone connection for up to 125 individual lines per client.
  • Grant Collaboration - We're a small staff and always looking for ways to build our capacity to serve your needs. Have a grant on which we could collaborate? Let us know!
  • Program Strategy - Since marketing and communication begins from the idea phase of new programs, our role extends beyond that of a service entity to a strategic think-tank. We can help you design programs and projects with a strategic approach to ensure marketing, evaluation and impact are part of the entire process.
