Enabling WPA2-Enterprise in Windows Vista and Windows 7
It is important to manually configure WPA2-Enterprise for your wireless network profile in Windows Vista and Windows 7. You must not be in the process of associating to the SSID because the configurations will not save correctly. If you have previously connected to WVSU-Wireless be sure to remove that existing wireless network association as shown in step 3 below.

Important Note: DO NOT share your email login information with anyone as it provides direct access to your personal information and university e-mail account!

1. In Windows, navigate to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center. Alternatively you may click the wireless icon in the bottom right taskbar, and click Open Network and Sharing Center.

2. Click Manage Wireless networks.

3. Click Add.  NOTE: If you have previously connected to WVSU-Wireless you will need to remove its wireless network association here before adding the new wireless network.

4. Choose Manually create a network profile.

5. On the next page, enter the following:
  • Network name: Enter WVSU-Wireless It is case sensitive.
  • Security type: Choose WPA2-Enterprise.
  • Encryption type: Choose AES.
  • Check Start this connection automatically if you want Windows to connect to this network automatically
6. Click Next.

7. Click Change Connection Settings.

8. Choose the Security tab.
9. click Settings.

10. Uncheck Validate Server Certificate at the top then Click Configure.

12. Uncheck Automatically use my Windows logon name and password.
13. Click OK then click OK again.

14. Click Advanced Settings.

15. Make sure Specify authentication mode is selected.  Click the dropdown box and select User authentication. Then click OK.

16. Close all open windows.  Click on the wireless icon in the bottom right task bar and click WVSU-Wireless.  You will be promped with a Network Authentication dialog box. Enter your email username and password to authenticate to the wireless network.

Congratulations, you are now connected to the wireless network!  If at any time you decide to change your MyState password, you will have to re-authenticate again with the new password, but you will not have to repeat all the steps listed above. These steps are one-time only.
