West Virginia State University Fall Festival on the Quad Scholarship Recipients Named

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – Two West Virginia State University (WVSU) students have been named the recipients of the 2017 Fall Festival on the Quad scholarship.

Adriana Fleming, a junior biology major, and John Lucas, a junior chemistry major, each received the scholarship, which was made possible by the proceeds from the annual festival.

“This support has been critical,” said Lucas, who also received the scholarship in 2016. “I had lost my home in the June 2016 floods, and I would not be able to be here without this type of support. I can’t thank everyone enough for it.”

Fleming said the scholarship will provide needed assistance as her father recently lost his job.

“This helps out a great deal,” she said. “Without support like this, I would have to take out a loan.”

The Fall Festival on the Quad began in 2016 and features art, live music, gourmet food, and craft beers and wine.

Planning for the 2018 Fall Festival is already underway. All proceeds benefit a scholarship fund for West Virginia State University students.
