How do I access the databases from off-campus?

Not all databases are available from off-campus. For those that are available, just select the boxed link at the end of the db entry.  Purchased databases take you to a campus server, where you log on with the same email name (the part before the @) and password you use for campus mail and MyState.
The expansion of campus bandwidth with new IP ranges may cause a few difficulties early Spring 2015 semester. On most
dbs if the boxed link is not working the old method of clicking on the larger database name and at the vendor logon screen entering your library barcode number is still working.

What is my Patron ID?

The prior method of off campus login was using the Patron ID. Your patron ID is the library barcode number on the back of your University ID, it begins with a 21.  Starting Spring 2015, the off campus (purchased) databases will connect through a campus server that validates you as current student, faculty or staff for the database vendor and connects you to the database. Some of the vendors refused to provide off campus access without this validation. The change also allows you to login for the databases the same as other campus tools.

What if the article I want is not full-text?

If you have found an article that you want, but the database you are using does not have it available in full text, you can check to see if it is available in another database or if the library has it in another format (print, microform, etc):
From the library pages top menu bar, under the Research Tools drop down, select Journals By Title. then click on the icon for Journal Finder . (If you are off campus Journal Finder may not connect you directly to the article, record the citation information.)
If the magazine/journal title is not listed in Journal Finder, you can place an interlibrary loan using the Periodical form and we can borrow it from another library.
