Legislative Affairs represents and advocates for West Virginia State University’s interests with state government through outreach and communication with the West Virginia Legislature, state agencies and other external entities with the support of the Higher Education Policy Commission.
The organization strives to provide policy makers with relevant and up-to-date information about issues that affect the University, articulates the University’s position on proposed legislation and coordinates communication between the University, individual members and legislative staff.
Legislative Affairs develops and implements strategies to advance the University's legislative initiatives and other interests. The department keeps University administration informed of governmental objectives, concerns, activities and interests by remaining abreast of current legislative issues.
Members of the Legislative Affairs team welcome input and feedback from WVSU faculty, students, parents and alumni who are interested or concerned about the future of higher education policy.
