Scott Christian is the Principal Timpanist with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, a full-time Visiting Professor of Music at West Virginia State University, a member of the flute, percussion and piano trio, ASS3MBLY, Artistic Director of the North Carolina based new music ensemble, Fresh Ink, and a board member for the Charleston Chamber Music Society. 

After earning a BM and MM from the Cleveland Institute of Music, Mr. Christian was the Acting Principal Timpanist with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra from 2002-2009 and concurrently served as Principal Timpanist with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra from 2003-2008. During Huntsville Symphony Orchestra's 2004-2005 season, he was featured as concerto soloist alongside his former teacher Paul Yancich, timpanist with the Cleveland Orchestra, in a performance of Philip Glass' Concerto Fantasy for Two Timpanists and Orchestra. Mr. Christian has appeared as a Substitute Principal Timpanist with Cleveland Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, San Diego Symphony Orchestra, and Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra.

As a performer of solo and chamber music he has performed with ChamberFest Cleveland, Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, Charlotte Chamber Music, Tyler-Tallman Concerts at Davidson College, Kanawha Forum, Charleston Chamber Music Society, Grachtenfestival Amsterdam. He has performed at University of North Texas, University of Texas, Baylor University, University of North Carolina Charlotte, Frostburg State University. The 2014-2015 concert season has his trio, ASS3MBLY performing at Marietta College, Indiana University Southeast, University of North Carolina Charlotte, as well as West Virginia State, West Liberty, Marshall, and Eastern Mennonite Universities. 

Scott has commissioned 15 works since 2000 and appears on recording released on Albany Records, New World Records, Azica Records, and Composers Recording Inc. The 2014-2015 season has ASS3MBLY recording works by Joseph Schwantner, John Allemeier, Ty Alan Emerson, Randy Woolf, and Erich Stem.
